The Golden Fields of Flame mission begins directly after the Curds and Whey mission completes. There is a parallel mission within this mission called A-Tisket A-Tasket, A Gold and Glass Casket that has your second major boss fight of the game.
Investigate the Fire Source
Calum McDonald will meet you at the town entrance with the news that his crops are burning.
Head to the Wheat Fields area of the Farm to investigate the fire source. You’ll need a water or ice potion to douse the flames before you can head in further.
Walk a bit further in and you’ll meet a kitsune who complains that someone stole the star ball. Where’s a good place to find information?
Find the Star Ball
Head back to Old Haven and into the Inn. The ball was stolen by none other than Prince Charming! He promises to return the ball if you wake a sleeping woman in the Fairy Forest. This unlocks the Bad Apple parallel mission.
Bad Apple
Fast travel to Golden Peach Tree area of the Fairy Forest. If you haven’t unlocked it yet then you’ll need to travel from the Elemental Ruins through the Grootsland Cave area to reach the Golden Peach Tree. From the Golden Peach Tree area entrance backtrack into the Grootslang Cave area and head directly northwest to find the sleeping woman.
A dwarf named Culloden will tell you that she’s been poisoned by darkness and asks you to gather some ingredients: Grootslang tusk, salamander skin, and water crystals. You will also receive the Iron Spear potion recipe. Concluding unlocks the parallel mission A-Tisket A-Tasket, A Gold and Glass Casket.
A-Tisket A-Tasket, A Gold and Glass Casket
You can find water crystals anywhere in the Fairy Forest.
For salamander skin you’ll need to craft the Iron Spear potion and head to the Fire Mountain. Use the Iron Spear potion on a salamander creature and it should drop the salamander skin.
Lastly you’ll need to retrieve the Grootslang tusk by venturing into the Grootsland cave near where you found the sleeping woman.
In the cave you’ll need to find four dwarves who will unblock the path to the Grootslang. There are snakes around that you can defeat by luring them into the falling rocks (indicated by the pools of water).
The first dwarf Kenrew is in the western path once you enter the cave.
The next dwarf can be found heading further north from Kenrew. You’ll see another path that splits west.
Take that route and then head north to find Baen.
The third dwarft Doughall is directly south of Baen.
Return to the main path and continue north until you come across a path that splits to the southeast.
Head to the end of that path to find Kinney.
Once you have all four dwarves, a cutscene will play that shows the dwarves removing the giant boulder blocking your path.
When you’re ready to take on the Grootslang, head past the group and further into the cave.
Grootslang Boss Battle
You can defeat the Grootslang with minimal potions by using environmental hazards. The Grootsland has three primary attacks:
- An angular rock formation that juts out in a consistent pattern. Stay in between the lanes to avoid this attack.
- An explosion attack that damages the entire arena. Move to the edge of the arena to avoid this attack.
- A headbutt attack that lunges towards Luna. Move quickly on Luna’s broom to dodge this attack.
Use the headbutt attacks to lure the Grootslang into the water pools so it can be struck by falling rocks. A direct strike to the head will result in a 1/3 decrease of the Grootslang’s health. You can also use your own damage potions to whittle down the health.
When you defeat the Grootslang a cutscene will play and you can pick up the grootslang tusk.
When you head back outside you’ll awaken Snow White, assuming you already picked up the water crystal and salamander skin previously. Prince Charming will arrive and hand over the ball.
You’ll also get a vision that hints of your next quest.
Meet the kitsune back at the Wheat Fields to hand over the star ball.
The kitsune will ask you about your vision, triggering The True True quest.
