At this point you have everything you need to explore, discover new recipes, and start collecting cards. You can take your time exploring the unlocked areas, or you can focus on completing the main mission “A Strange Request”. This mission has three parts and a fourth mini-mission afterwards:
Your mission from Baba Yaga is to collect three items from various locations.
If you head back to Old Haven then you’ll notice Nayr standing in front of Granny’s house. Talking to Nayr over time may unlock quests for which you will receive potion recipes as a reward. There are a few other potential villagers you can unlock to learn even more potions.
Gather Golden Straw (Farm)
Head to the Farm and make your way to the second area – Wheat Fields – by using your broom to traverse the gap in the ground.
Head slightly north and then west to meet a mysterious imp. The imp will agree to give you golden straw if you can guess his name.
Helios will give you a hint to “find where he celebrates” and mentions the Twisted Woods. Head to the Twisted Woods and explore the southwest corner near a bed of soil.
A cutscene will start, and you’ll overhear the imp mention his name: Rumplestilskin.
Return to the Wheat Fields and claim your Golden Straw.
Gather a Willow Branch (Tundra)
Head to the Tundra and enter at the Great Willow Tree. As soon as you enter you’ll meet Chong’er, who will ask for your assistance delivering an item.
Pick up the food and follow Chong’er to the tree, taking care to avoid the Icehogs and Harpies. When you arrive at the tree Chong’er will ask you to set it down on the nearby rock.
Click through the cutscene to receive your Willow Branch.
Gather Fairy Dust (Fairy Forest)
Enter the Fairy Forest and make your way east. On the way you will see a screaming pot of oil.
Use a water bomb or ice cone to put out the fire, after which Tanuki will thank you by giving you the Minor Cone of Vines potion recipe.
Make your way to the second area, the Shining Woods. Explore the area and head east until you reach a circle of mushrooms. A Fairy will appear and ask for your help with the ruins in the next area. Continue east to enter the Element Ruins. If you continue east then you’ll notice there are three lit points of the star and two that are missing.
Go back to the cauldron and then north to reach the water statue. Use a water or ice potion on the statue to activate it.
Make your way south and around the circle in a counterclockwise direction until you reach the earth statue. Use either the Minor Cone of Vines potion you learned from Tanuki or another earth potion if you discovered the recipe.
A weird creature will escape from the ruin. Then a Fairy will appear and deliver the fairy dust as promised. Before leaving I recommend heading east so you can unlock the House of Sticks fast travel area.
I Need Your Strongest Potions
Return to Baba Yaga, ringing the bell to lower the hut. Deliver the ingredients and Baba Yaga will give you a new broom (though it doesn’t function any differently from the one you were borrowing). Luna will ask Baba Yaga to release Emily, who will agree in exchange for asking you to learn a recipe from Granny.
Return to Granny and she will tell you to combine Spider Silk with Thyme and a Feature. You can get Spider Silk by heading into the House of Sticks area of the Dark Forest and heading north. You will encounter a Silk Weaver who will shoot webs at you. Allow them to hit you or a nearby object and then will generate Spider Silk.
Combine the ingredients to make Magical Cleaner. Equip the new potion and leave the house to begin the next mission.
