Hey folks! It’s Kara. I’m a gamer, anime enthusiast, and lover of action movies. I’m here to talk about my first love: games.
Games have been a big part of my life since I was young. My parents were gamers (though they don’t realize it), and many of our family pictures throughout the years include various shots of me and my siblings playing video games together. In some of them we’re clutching Nintendo GameCube controllers, battling for 1st place in Mario Kart. In others my siblings are circled around me on the floor of my room to watch me play Final Fantasy X on my PlayStation 2. All games regardless of system or genre had one thing in common: we experienced them together.
My mission is to share positive game experiences with others in order to spread the joy and love of gaming.

Why am I writing?
Put simply: I play A LOT of games. Last year alone I finished 25+ games and clocked in over 700 hours of game time, and that was only on my PlayStation 4. If we throw in the fact that I finally got around to playing Breath of the Wild then who knows how many hours I spent with a controller in my hand.
Many people in my own pack, even avid gamers, come to me for game recommendations and for general thoughts on games. I write these posts primarily with them in mind, but I share publicly in the hopes that it will resonate with kindred spirits.
When I discuss a game I will release two posts: 1) a spoiler-free review of the game for folks who haven’t heard of it or played it, and 2) a spoiler-friendly thought piece on the game analyzing and discussing with folks who have finished it.
You might like my posts if you’re interested in the following topics:
- Narrative and thought-driven games – Most of the time I play games to become immersed or to work my mind
- Short and sweet games – If you’re strapped for time then I’ll have games to recommend you
- Console gaming – I have nothing against PC gaming; I’m honestly just too lazy to build a good PC.
My mission here is simple: to share positive game experiences with others in order to spread the joy and love of gaming. If by this time next year you were able to take away one story or recommendation then I will achieved my goal.
DISCLOSURE
I’m a Senior Technical Program Manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment working on PlayStation Network (PSN).
My primary reason for sharing my title is to openly disclose that many of the games I discuss were purchased using PSN voucher currency I receive as an employee perk. For this reason I will not discuss game cost in my reviews and thought pieces. Though I primarily play on PS4, I own or have access to all current generation system (Nintendo Switch & Xbox One) and will indicate if a game I discuss is available on those systems.
All opinions on this site are my own and do not represent policy or statements from Sony Interactive Entertainment.
A pact between us
I’ll only write about games I like and recommend. There are two reasons: 1) I want to cultivate a positive energy here, and 2) I don’t want to waste my own time and energy writing about something I don’t like. For this reason I won’t point or score games based on a rating system. You should decide for yourself if you want to play the game based on the story, mechanics, and impact described.
When I write about a game I’ll ALWAYS include the following information in addition to standard background info:
- Moods and themes – How I felt playing through it
- Time commitment – So you know what you’re getting in to…
- Skills and mindset – Sometimes a game is great but you’re just not in the mindset to tackle it; this can give you a sense of whether it’s a “now” or “later” game for you
As mentioned in the disclosure above, I purchase most of my games on discount as an employee perk. Therefore I will not discuss cost in my review as it would be biased.
Let’s connect
Still with me? If so, great! I’m looking forward to sharing the joy of gaming with you. Keep an eye out for more posts where we can discuss games!
