The Temple of Destruction is the third major dungeon in Potions: A Curious Tale. You will receive the Eruption Interruption achievement after the completion of this mission.
The Temple of Destruction portion of the game consists of two parallel missions and a boss battle:
You Didn’t Slay the Dragon?
The mission starts when you head to Granny’s house after completing the Temple of Time. Baba Yaga will be there and will warn you about a potential volcano eruption.
Head to the Lava Fields and use your broom to fly over the lava northwest. There is a barrier with both a blue line and red line, so you’ll need to search the area for both stones.
The red barrier is to the south. You’ll need to continue south to land and then circle around north to activate the stone.
The blue barrier is to the west. You’ll need to land on an island to the southwest and make your way north in a clockwise direction to reach the stone. You’ll pass a health upgrade gated behind 10 Silver cards.
Once you’ve activated both stones return to the area with the statues. Walk up past the statues to the gate and Luna will comment.
A dragon will roar. Go west to initiate a chase sequence.
During the chase sequence you have to dodge obstacles and repeatedly grab the dragon’s tail.
After the chase you’ll be able to unlock the gate that leads to the Temple of Destruction.
Use a fire potion to remove the poison acid from the entrance, and then enter the temple.
Temple of Destruction
Enter the temple and equip both fire and water potions. Go north and light the brazier on the left to make the statue disappear.
Read the book for a hint about the braziers revealing the truth.
Continue north and a cutscene will happen with a fairy flying to the east.
Follow north and then east after the fairy. Defeat the magma golem; I defeat it with 3 Water Spear potions.
Go north on the only available path. Use a water potion to put out the brazier. Open the chest to receive a deluminator and deactivate the red barrier stone.
Take the new path east first and walk around the forge until Luna and Helios discuss it. You can light the braziers on both sides to reveal a treasure chest with materials.
Go back and take the south path this time. Light the brazier to reveal a new path. Continue following the path and lighting each brazier as you find it until you come to the blue barrier stone that unlocks the western path of the temple.
Make your way towards the western path of the temple where the blue barrier went down. Before heading there I recommend going north and taking care of the giant Fire Golem, which will make your life easier later.
Take the west path and defeat another normal golem. If you head north from that golem you can turn off the braziers for a treasure chest.
Go west for another brazier puzzle. Your goal is to light all the braziers at the same time. The yellow stone is activated on a timer, so you’ll need to rush around on your broom to unlight the top brazier and then rush down to the bottom brazier. Then you can relight the other braziers as normal.
You’ll receive a key mold when you light all the braziers.
Take the southern path at the junction before you return to the forge to get a treasure chest and unlock a shortcut back to the main entrance.
Return to the forge on the eastern side of the temple. A cutscene will happen where Luna will initiate the mold, but a fairy shows up and attacks.
You’ll need to kill a few fairies for the key to finish.
After you pick up the key, you’ll need to run away from the darkness that is enclosing around you. There will only be one available direction for you to go each time, but I recommend you rush on broom so you don’t cut it too close.
If you didn’t defeat the giant Fire Golem already then you’ll have to do so quickly or run around it. Open the gate and head north.
The darkness will no longer chase you past the gate, so you can take a moment to restock your potions if necessary. Continue north to initiate the boss battle.
Angry Dragon (Boss Battle)
You will discover why the dragon is so angry: there are fairies trying to control it!
After the cutscene you will be locked into a grid battleground. Avoid the fairy attacks and try to bait the dragon into attacking the same column as the fairy.
Doing so will return you to the normal map where you can rush north and use potions to defeat the fairies. I was able to take 2 out in one round using an Iron Spear.
Repeat the process again until all three fairies are defeated.
You will receive the Eruption Interruption achievement after discussing with the Dragon. Return home to complete the mission.
