This guide will take you from 50% of the game through the finish. In this walkthrough I’ll cover the following:

  • Starting hints – These are gentle hints to nudge you towards solving it on your own
  • Relevant Clues – Direct call-outs of the relevant clues in case you’ve found yourself stuck wandering aimlessly
  • More hints – If applicable, more hints on how to analyze the clues you found
  • Solution – Detailed breakdown of the solution

Table of Contents

Room Locks – Part 2

In this phase of the game you need to find the second code for each room. You begin this phase when you discover the basement. As the note on the table mentions, there is one clue for each room hidden in the basement. The rest are scattered throughout the island and house. You will need to apply the same principles you used in Phase 1 but with new clues.

Analytics

Starting hints
  • Anything in the basement that looks like it belongs in Analytics?
  • Check behind the house. Like the first time you solved Analytics, pay attention to the base.
  • There are multiple objects with the same color base.
Relevant Clues

There are six total clues for the Analytics puzzle:

  • Equation in the basement
  • Objects with a Green Base:
    • TREE behind house (from front, not back)
    • SALT on the Kitchen table
    • ROSE in the hallway in front of the Study
    • STAR in the drawer of the Study
    • GLOBE in the Geography room
Hints #2
  • GLOBE is the only 5-letter word
  • TREE is the only word with repeated letters
SOLUTION

Like the first time you solved Analytics, the purple word is the solution. GLOBE is the only 5-letter word, so you know the answer to the equation will give you the letter-number mapping for GLOBE. You can also deduce that TREE=5877 because it is the only word with repeating letters at the end.

Solution for the Analytics secondary key.

Solving for the equations gives you 3045, or SHOE.

Map Room

Starting hints
  • As before, your journey will take the same path as the map
  • You’ll need to do a bit of footwork to map this out
Relevant clues
  • Leaf Maze picture in basement with Key highlighted
  • The maze in the backyard
More Hints
  • Did you start from the right place?
  • Notice the L is underlined in LEAF on the map
Solution

Starting at the circle pad with the leaf outside the maze, traverse to the key and count the stones on the group to map your route. You should get Up, Left (x2), Up (x5), Right, Down, Right, Down, Right, Up (x4).

When entering the LOCK code, start with the word “LEAF” instead of “COVE”. The answer is LIFE.

Error / Purple room

Starting hints
  • Don’t overthink this one. You can guess without additional clues
Relevant Clues
  • Letter by the glitched red beaker which says letter, nest …
  • Glitchy “Bug collection” in the Map room
  • Glitchy bird portrait
More hints
  • Letter, Nest, Bug, Bird…. what common prefix could they have?
  • You can use an online dictionary to search “Words that end with ___” if you’re really struggling here.
Solution

The common prefix is LOVE.

Gallery

STARTING HINTS
  • You will need to solve Analytics to have the complete clue
  • Sometimes an oddity in the environment might indicate opportunity for fresh perspective
Relevant Clues
  1. Inside the Arithmetic box
  2. Painting underneath the stairs
  3. Owls in the Geography room
  4. Side of the basement cave entrance
Solution

The full clue is “ENDS WITH PUNCH LINE”. The answer is JOKE.

Study

Starting hints
  • A new puzzle means a brand new schedule
  • Sometimes it’s appropriate to reuse an earlier clue
Relevant Clues
  • Time – letter map in Study (same one from before)
  • Clock in the basement
  • Clock in the kitchen
  • Clock in the maze
  • Moon sculpture in the Exit room
  • The dartboard in the Game Room
Solution

Arranging the itinerary in chronological order you get:

  • 7:00am – N E
  • 10:20am – X T
  • 2:35pm – I N
  • 5:10pm – L I
  • 7:00pm – N E

The full clue is “Next in line”, which would be an HEIR.

Kitchen

Starting hints
  • You will need a silver key to get all Clues for the puzzle
  • The first time you solved the Kitchen, you used several different codes from the Steganography book
  • Apply the same principle as before, but using clues scattered throughout the rest of the island
relevant clues
  • Steganography book in Kitchen (same one from before)
  • Antennae in the basement
  • Landscape in the backyard behind the fence
  • The stove, unlocked with a silver key
More Hints
  • What does fire create?
  • Be patient while you’re waiting outside
Solution
  • The rock formation is Braille for A.
  • The book with “Romeo” circled indicates NATO code for R.
  • The smoke is Morse Code for M.
  • The antennae in the basement are Flag Semaphore for Y.

The final answer is ARMY.

Game Room

This one will be tough if you’re not familiar with chess.

Starting hints
  • This will be much easier to solve with a silver key
Relevant Clues

Chess boards are at the following locations:

  • Basement
  • Entry room
  • Upstairs by staircase
  • Maze
More Hints
  • You are always playing as White going for a checkmate against Black
  • Each move by a White piece is a Check against Black (no multi-step Checks)
Solution
  • Entry room = T
    • White Bishop (in corner of board) takes Black Bishop directly in front of Black King
    • Black King moves one space either right or left
    • White Bishop (from bottom of board) moves up parallel to Black King for Checkmate
  • 2nd floor = A
    • White Rook moves right in front of Black King
    • Black King moves one space right to hide behind Black Pawn
    • White Bishop takes Black Pawn (in way of Black King)
    • Black Bishop takes White Bishop
    • White Queen takes Black Bishop for Checkmate
  • Basement = S
    • Interactive solution shown with silver key
  • Maze = K
    • White Bishop takes Black Knight
    • Black Rook takes White Bishop
    • White Queen takes Black Rook
    • Black Queen takes White Queen
    • White Rook moves up next to Black King for checkmate

The code is TASK.

Nursery

Starting hints
  • You will need a silver key for a proper hint
Relevant Clues
  • Seek packet in the basement.
  • Yellow flower outside the window in the Analytics room.
  • The message “Only the correct Settings will work.”
More Hints

This will be difficult if you forget an important mechanic introduced when you started the game. Maybe stroll from the dock again and pay close attention?

Many people stumble on how to open the flower before fully understanding the solution. Here are some additional nudges:

  • In the first puzzle you received one number from inside the flower. Where did the other three numbers come from, and how were they calculated?
  • How does the principle from the original puzzle apply to the new one?
Solution

Think carefully about the clue “Only the correct Settings will work.” Where else do we have Settings besides in the Menu? Notice that the Settings have Brightness, Run Velocity, and Music Volume variables.

You will need to adjust the variables so that the environment matches the numbers on the seed packet. Brightness = 15, Velocity = 12, Music = 0. Applying this to the in-game settings will open the yellow flower, revealing the number 17.

Put the numbers in the order on the seed pack – Flower (17), Music (0), Velocity / Water (12), Brightness (15). Using Alphanumeric Substitution for the numbers again you get RAMP.

Escape Book

Table of Contents

First you need to find the missing Table of Contents (1st page). The first page will give you clues for the remaining pages.

Relevant Clues
  • Red key found in the basement after unlocking the laser grid with the three golden keys
  • Cube in Exit room with red key hole
Solution (Part I)

Inserting the keys from Phase 2 LOCKs and reading the letters in columns creates the message “Tiled rooms form key”

Hints (Part II)
  • You will need to combine multiple pieces for this
  • Where are the tiled rooms? They “form the key”
  • This is easiest to understand from the Kitchen or Gallery. Stand at the entrance and see if anything comes to you.
Solution (Part II)

Look at the floor tiles in each of the rooms. The floors are in the shape of letters. Putting them in order of how they appear on the wall in the Exit room:

  1. Games = O
  2. Map = R
  3. Error / Purple = G
  4. Study = A
  5. Nursery = N
  6. Gallery = I
  7. Analytics = Z
  8. Kitchen = E

The key is ORGANIZE. Insert this into the laser grid to get the phrase “start hides final lock. boat name is key”

Hints (Part III)
  • Where did you start the game?
  • Maybe it will help to exit and re-enter.
Solution (Part III)

The boat name is “Tide Runner”.

The side of the boat says “Tide Runner”

Exit out via the Menu back into the Title screen. Click left on the D-pad / joystick to edit the large font letters to TIDE. Hit Square to submit.

Click left on the title screen to edit the code.

The water level will lower. Walk around the edge to reach the purple page in the newly created beach.

Note when you find the book you’ll only have Chapter 4 checked complete.

If you’d like to find the pages on your own, explore the house using the clues from the Table of Contents before proceeding with this walkthrough. Note the clue “You must look closely for true understanding.”

Chapter 1

Page Location

The clue is “A Bird Without Feathers”. Somewhere in the game you are seeking a flying object without feathers.

In the Map Room there is a metal plane sitting on the counter next to the owl statues. Zoom in on the plane and hold for a moment to activate a hidden function that will unlock Chapter 1.

Hints

A few hints before revealing the solution:

  • Notice the weird phrasing “You’re in dangered”. Does that sound like anything else you’ve seen around the island?
  • Once you find the “in dangered” connection, note the rest of the clue which mentions being “disordered”
  • Look carefully at the names and pictures. The descriptions are fun to read but irrelevant to this puzzle.
Solution

Each of capitalized words on the Chapter 1 page are scrambled names of Endangered Species. Pick up the book and compare the letters in the animal names to the Chapter 1 words. Next, look carefully at the pictures of each animal. There is a hidden letter for each one.

ClueAnimalHidden Letter

The hidden letters spell HUSTLE.

Chapter 2

Page Location

The clue is “A Lone Soldier surrounded.” Has there been anything on the island involving soldiers or war?

In the leaf maze, there is a chess board with a few pieces sitting nearby on a chair. Notice the chess pieces on the chair are a lone white pawn surrounded by black pieces. Zoom in and hold on the white pawn to reveal the Chapter 2 page.

Hints

The clue at the top indicates to “seek the authors of your fate.” A few more hints:

  • At least some of the images should look familiar to you.
  • When discussing classic literature, it is best to use both first and last name of the author.
  • By this point we’ve already broken the 4th wall. Why stop now?
  • The first number underneath the door symbol is a “7”, not a question mark.
Solution

Find the books or credits that correspond to each of the symbols on the Chapter 2 page. Use the numbers under each symbol to determine which letter to use from the name.

  1. Escape book –> August Ferdinand
  2. Game credits –> 800pixelgorilla
  3. My Journey book (map room) –> Sir Reginald Goodweather
  4. Endangered Species book –> Keldbjones
  5. A Blank Book in the Math room –> Nobody
  6. Romeo & Juliet book –> William Shakespeare
  7. Music credits –> Slayassassin73
  8. Steganography book –> Johannes Trithemius
Solution for the Chapter 2 puzzle, which spells FIENDISH.

All together the letters spell FIENDISH.

Chapter 3

Page Location

The clue is “A Star Not from the Heavens”. Where can you find a star that’s not from space?

There is a starfish lying on the beach near where you found the Table of Contents page. Zoom in and hold on the starfish to reveal the Chapter 3 page.

Hints
  • The hint “made many”: In English is there a difference between words for one thing versus many things?
  • Standard word find rules apply: diagonal, backwards, and combination are valid
  • No need to copy the page. Pay attention to the clue “all but one lay within”
Solution

Write the plural version of each LOCK solution so far and search for them in the word find.

Chapter 4

You already have Chapter 4 from the previous phase of the game.

Chapter 4 page from the Escape book.
Hints
  • Do those frames look familiar?
  • The first line gives you a direct clue on how to solve the rest: “Gas cell” -> “cell phone”
  • If you are completely stumped then try using a dictionary site. For example, you can look up “words that start with bed” and narrow it down by number of letters.
Frame Locations
Solution

Find each of the frames in the house with matching borders. The black frame is the starting word and the white frame is the ending word. Find a “bridge” word that is common between them.

Solution for the Chapter 4 puzzle in the Escape book.

When using the underlined letter from each word, the solution is CORPSES.

Chapter 5

Page Location

The clue is “A Tasty Ruby Above a Cluttered Space”. What is a “tasty ruby”? Where do you think of when you think of “a cluttered space”?

You might remember the bowl of fruit in The Kitchen which had apples and other various fruits. Where do apples grow? On trees! In The Study there is a window on the roof that you used previously to see the time against the sun. Look to the right in the window and you’ll see an apple in the tree. Zoom and hover for a moment to unlock Chapter 5.

Hints
  • You will need Chapters 1 through 4 solved for this.
  • Does the symbol on the left of “Chapter” on each line look familiar?
Solution

Type the previous Chapter solutions into the laser word grid in the basement.

The clue says “All escape chapter answers are anagrams”. Solve the anagrams and note which letters are yellow using the new words.

The solution is LIES.

Escaping the Island (End)

You now have all the information you need to escape the island. A few critical clues to review:

  • The Chapter 5 clue said “All escape chapter answers are anagrams”, and the chapter 5 solution clue has a LOCK symbol near it.
  • Ferdinand reminded you that every LOCK has 2 solutions. Any LOCKs you haven’t used twice?
Solution

LIES is an anagram for ISLE. Type this into the final LOCK you haven’t used twice: the Title Screen.

Final LOCK solution to escape the island and end the game.

Congratulations! You’ve finished LOCK. I hope you found this guide useful on your journey.
